May 12, 1996– After approximately two weeks of filming, Shana’s work as an extra on “Ghosts” is finished. She shared a never before seen picture of a dried red rose she claims Michael gave to her on her Instagram. She writes “He gave me this red rose on the last day of our filming on Ghosts, 20 years ago. My friend dried it for me and put it in a card. This is my first time ever sharing it.”

The card is dated May 12, 1996, however, there’s one major problem with this date; Michael took a break from filming Ghosts beginning May 8th and was in London on May 12, 1996 according to a credible MJJ timeline.

Proof that the above timeline is accurate and that Michael was not in the US from May 8 – May 15, 1996

The ride has been voted by fans as one of the world’s best examples of the mine roller coaster. Until 2013 its full name was Colorado Adventure – The Michael Jackson Thrill Ride. The ride was open from the beginning of the 1996 season and was ‘officially’ opened by Michael Jackson on May 11.

Summer of 1996– Claiming to still be a virgin at almost 26, Shana says she met Michael at The Universal Hilton Hotel where she had her first sexual experience with him. She also claims several more encounters occurred during that Summer yet despite 20 years of copious note taking into her diary (which would according to Shana, become this book) she is very vague about the details and fails to give any dates for these secret rendezvous. Surely Shana would document losing her virginity down to the month, day, year and time just as she did whenever Michael called into the office of Gallin Morey. Perhaps one reason for not providing dates for these secret rendezvous is that Shana seems to have difficulty remembering exactly when she and Michael were together that summer.

In her book Shana claims the sexual encounters between she and Michael occurred a few times in the summer of 1996. She claims the first night they spent together happened a few weeks after Ghosts wrapped on a Sunday.

The following is from the book:

“I hadn’t seen or heard from him since our last day on the Ghosts set. It had been a few weeks and I was missing him badly.” She goes on to say that, “it was late one Sunday evening when he called…”

Shana also states in her Facebook group that they had just finished filming Ghosts when they got together for the first time:

However, when asked about the timeline by another member in the group Shana states that she did not hear from Michael for a couple of months after Ghosts wrapped:

Shana’s own words have given two completely different timelines as to when these supposed hook ups began in the summer of 96. It’s also very intriguing that Shana once stated she couldn’t remember the year that Ghosts was filmed (See Shana’s Tweet below dated January 13, 2010 from An Ever – Changing Story).

If filming Ghosts coincides with the same year that she lost her virginity to Michael, the man of her dreams, it would be very uncharacteristic of her to forget which year it was.

The conflicting timelines also bring in to question her age at the time. If you go by what she says in her book, she was 25 about to turn 26 (Shana’s birthday is July 1). The following is taken from her book:

“I was about to turn twenty-six and Michael was the only “experience” I’d had.”

If you go by what she stated in her book club about not hearing from him for two months after “Ghosts” wrapped, she would have been 26 at the time. Surely she would remember how old she was when she lost her virginity to the man who, according to her brother, she had set out to marry when she moved to LA in 1989 (see The Early Years page).

Michael was very busy in the summer of 1996 and spent the majority of the summer out of the country.

Another inconsistency in Shana’s claims is whether Michael and Lisa were still married at the time. In an interview given to The Sun (January 2019) Shana claims she and Michael did not get together until a couple of months after he divorced Lisa. Michael and Lisa were not divorced until August 20, 1996. If we go by Shana’s original claim, that she and Michael were together for the first time a few weeks after “Ghosts” then her claim of Michael and Lisa being divorced at the time is not correct.

The Sun interview isn’t the only time Shana claimed Michael and Lisa were divorced when she and Michael got together. She made the same claim in her Facebook group.

Around the time his divorce with Lisa was finalized, Michael embarked on a road trip across Europe with the Cascio’s. He would not return to the US before kicking off the HIStory tour in Prague on September 7, 1996.

Shana’s version of events and timeline for that summer is called in to question once again with posts she made saying she hadn’t heard from Michael “in weeks” prior to his birthday (August 29).

In another post she says she hadn’t heard from him “in a while” by the time his birthday rolled around:

Having no way of getting in touch with Michael (which is odd considering Shana claims they were hooking up throughout the summer), Shana got in touch with his driver, Gary, who agreed to deliver a card and birthday present to Michael from Shana.

If one believes Shana’s claim that Lisa and Michael were divorced during the encounters she and Michael had that summer, that would mean the encounters took place after August 20. Michael was already out of the country by then and in Shana’s post above she said she hadn’t heard from him “in a while” by that time.

On the other hand, if one believes Shana when she said that their encounters began two months after Ghosts wrapped that would be mid-July and once again, Michael was out of the country for weeks at that time. If you believe that version of her timeline you would also then have to dismiss her claim that Michael and Lisa were divorced at the time. That version also contradicts Shana’s claim of being “almost twenty-six” as she would have already turned 26 by that time.

Going by Shana’s ever-changing timeline, the third scenario is that the supposed hook ups began a couple of weeks after “Ghosts” wrapped (this was Shana’s original claim). That would be around the first or second week of June and by mid-July Michael was already out of the country. What’s interesting is that Shana never mentions him spending the majority of that summer out of the country. This third scenario also does not fit with her claim that Michael and Lisa were already divorced when she and Michael got together.

Using her own words, Shana has painted a tight and tricky timeline for this summer romance between she and Michael to have occurred.

To demonstrate this, a follower on Shana’s Instagram page also asked her for a little more information as to when this alleged hook up with Michael occurred. In true Shana fashion, she did not answer the question but decided to quickly delete it from her page:

Refusing to answer questions about intimate time Shana may have or have not spent with Michael is a pattern. She’s always eager to answer questions from fans about his personal life as long as it’s not about the time they supposedly spent together in the summer of 1996. She has gone as far as to talk about his marriage to Lisa Marie in great detail, but when it comes to talking about any intimidate moments Shana may have shared with Michael, she refuses to give details. Monica makes a very good point with her comment below. Shana was all too eager to share sexually explicit fan-made drawings and videos (see below), but refuses to answer any questions she deems to be “too personal”.

It is important to point out that during the very same time period Shana says she and Michael were hooking up she was spending a lot of time with Michael’s assistant, “House”. The following is from her book:

“House started calling me constantly, inviting me on shopping trips to help him “pick out items Michael might like.” I thought that this was something Michael had asked him to do, so I happily joined him. Looking back, however, I think that House had developed a crush on me himself and was using this Michael angle to try to hang out with me on his own. I was so confused and too naive to understand any of what was going on. I was just happy to be with someone who could tell me what Michael was up to day to day.”

While Shana seems to complain about “House” using the Michael angle to hang out with her, she was doing the exact same thing. She was spending time with “House” hoping it would allow her to somehow be able to communicate with Michael.

If Shana was spending private time with Michael that summer why would she need to rely on “House” to keep her up to date with what Michael was up to day to day? Shana says she and Michael spoke almost on a daily basis during her time working for Gallin and Morey. If that were true, why would she need “House” to inform her on what was going on with Michael?

Shana doesn’t reveal the date of the alleged hotel hook up with Michael but she does state in her book that six months after Michael ended his professional relationship with Gallin-Morey, she left as well.
